Always wanted an original GC controller wireless and rumble. That was my only downside with the wavebird. That it had no rumble.
Shame XInput isn't supported out of the box!
It is absolutely wonderful that 8BitDo is creating these mod kits to save old, broken controllers. This is such a consumer/environment friendly product. The kit is easy enough to assemble for anyone with basic skills. I was concerned about the solderless rumble so I opted to solder my kit. My only disappointment is that it isn’t as PC friendly as other controllers since it lacks Xinput.
Title says it all. I love 8bitdo, and have bought several of their products through amazon and their website. The modkit stands out from any other controller alternative like the original wavebird because of its small compact space saving design, use of the original shell (and buttons) and use of the original vibration motor. I love how the circuit board looks in my clear case, the soldering job on this board is top-teir, and gets a shefs kiss. I dont understand why people wouldnt want this, if there were ever people like that. If your a gamer and a gc lover, get this!!! Its beautiful :) One major con though, It does NOT WORK with windows, I really hope they add a firmware update for that where you hold x+start (x for x-input) and make it similar to their g-bros adapter. It works really well with the gamecube too. Thanks!!!!

Controller powers on and pairs to the host device when plugged the supplied USB power cable is inserted to charge, even with no buttons pressed.
This makes it turn on paired devices with standby power, keep them awake while charging, and needlessly waste energy on both the controller and the host device.
Consulted extensively with support including providing a video upon request, and they are telling me this is by design and are not committing to a fix.
This is different behavior then every console controller on the market in the last 20 years / 3 console generations /sigh
