Great controller, terrible connection

I bought this and the 8bitdo usb adapter 2 so my friend could play PC games with me. The controller is amazing, you can see the attention to detail that makes this a real accessibility tool. When it works, it’s everything I hoped it would be for my friend, and she loves it too. But it only connects half the time. The adapter and controller both say they’ve connected, but nothing registers. We’ve done hours of troubleshooting and every time we think we’ve cracked the issue, and it plays beautifully for a full gaming session, it fails the next time we try to open the game. I want so badly to give this a good, review, I really do love it. But what use is a controller that doesn’t control?
