I own both the ultimate-style controllers as well as the new Pro 3 and both of the formfactors fit the case very well (though it's probably aimed at the ultimate-style a little more) The dock sits snug in the bottom, the hole in the back is aligned so you can theoretically leave the dock and the controller in the case permanently, but I prefer to have the controller and dock "naked" because taking the controller out of the case is a little more effort than without the case. Minimal "criticism" for a first-world problem that isn't really one.
It's perfect for travel, the lid has two soft pads that hold the controller in place without touching the joysticks, so no matter how much you shake it, the controller is absolutely safe and won't be jamming the sticks in any direction.
There's also a small net to carry a cable in the lid - or you can put the Pro 3 joystick caps in there that you aren't using. It holds it all and still closes fine. I'm probably going to buy a case along with every new controller I get.
