So far, my controller has worked pretty well on my Arch Linux, after installing Windows-reading software to make some edits. I haven't gotten all functions out of the extra buttons yet, but I know they'll be convenient. Unfortunately, the 2.4G connection hasn't been working, likely due to the distro. It looks like it's going to be Bluetooth connection for me.
Od the 8BitDo website this controller is advertised as Steam device compatible and advise to use BT mode. However when I'm using it with my Steamdeck there's a frequently occurring glitch that causes all analog intputs (sticks and triggers) to not work at all. All other buttons are working when this happens.
I purchased 2 U2 wireless controllers and both share the same issue.
Switching to 2.4 dongle mode seems to work for now, but that is only useful when I play with the docking station. The goal was to be able to use the controller freely in BT mode like OG steam controller etc.
Works very well for me.
On paper, this is a great controller. Four extra buttons, TMR sticks, trigger switches, an included dock, and even Steam Input support with their beta firmware. Unfortunately, I had to go through multiple controllers to find one that didn't have any quality issues. The first controller had mushy, unresponsive face buttons, and the second controller had a malfunctioning trigger. Also, the back buttons on this controller tend to double-click when pressed from a certain angle. It seems to be an issue with the shell. To their credit, 8bitdo provided replacements and tried to help me fix the double-clicking, but it was still a frustrating experience.
