Worth getting to replace faulty hardware that I don't know how to fix anyway! Love that it's wireless now.
Didn't want to spare an OEM, so I put it in a Chinese knockoff, it can be done in those with bad silicone sticks and those with hard plastic sticks and dark green "A" button. I just had to sand around the screw post a little next to the C-stick to make it fit.
It's a great upgrade as you get:
Great quality soft plastic sticks (seems on par with OEM) over rapid-wearing soft silicone ones.
Proper analog controls range, so it is less tricky to walk instead of always running in games.
No more short or defective lead, or dealing with meh quality extension cables.
I'm not giving it five stars because getting buttons working 1 to 1 from this Gamecube controller through a Blueretro GameCube receiver is a real pain, such I didn't manage to get the triggers' full press button working to this day.
Overall really great product. Keep in mind you may need to trim off some plastic on the base of analpg sticks due to rubbing. I also did have trouble pairing with 8bit do Gamcube adaptor. Needed to reach out to support for firmware which was not found in the website.
It works really well, after everything has been put together, very happy with the result!
It’s not perfect because:
a) wires used are very very thin and it always feels one step away from damage
b) the wires for the shoulder button end-click-sensor are facing towards the main pcb of the controller. When being put together it requires force to push them down to close the controller shell. Again feels one step away from damage…
End result is still awesome!
If you are looking to breathe some new life into a classic controller then this is what you are looking for. Other than smoother joysticks it basically feels the same to use. The only note I have is that rumble only works in certain modes.
